Rupert gained his inspiration from the surrounding
countryside growing up at Londesborough. His passion for this
opened his eyes and mind to the animals around him. His years
of anatomical observation have done him proud and result in
an ability to grasp faultlessly and speedily the essential
character and proportion of an animal.
Artistic statement
My Art is about lines and the wire echoes this. Each piece
starts off as a series of drawings and from these drawings
the piece evolves. Having the abililty to draw and express
what you have observed and then being able to interpret it,
in a mark or bend in the wire is why my pieces appear so lifelike.
I enjoy being up close and personal with animals and I would
like to think that comes through whether its a drawing, painting
or sculpture.
